How to Install Node.js and NPM on Windows 8 / Windows 10

In this video we will see How to Download , install and setup a node.js development environment on Windows.
Installation Steps

1. Download the Node.js Windows installer from the Nodes.js web site (
2 Run the installer (the .msi file you downloaded in the previous step.)
3. Follow the prompts in the installer.
4. Restart your computer. You may not be able to run Node.js until you restart your computer.

  1. i am getting an error when ever i type npm -v to check the is it installed or not it shows some kind of error and then display the version number..
    for example
    C:UsersAsif>npm -v
    'CALL "C:Program Filesnodejs\node.exe" "C:Program Filesnodejs\node_modules
    npmbinnpm-cli.js" prefix -g' is not recognized as an internal or external com
    operable program or batch file.

    it also gives me some kind of error when i am installing node js on my machine the error comes before it finishes instalation
    the error is

    Warning 1909, Could not create Shortcut node.js command prompt.lnk, Verify that the destination folder exists and that you can asccess it..

    and shows a button ok when i press this ok button the node installation wizard tells me completed and click finish to exit the setup wizard node.js installed successfully…

    please help me whats th problem here??
